Herisem Walk

The walk starts at the Sint-Victor School on the Brusselse Steenweg and leads you via the Witteweg to the impressive Ducal Church of Our Lady . Admire the Gothic interior, the miraculous statue of Mary, the Romanesque baptismal font, and the Baroque furnishings.

Afterwards, you walk along the Molenbeek through the Alsembergse Beemd nature reserve to the historic Herisem paper mill . This 16th-century industrial site grew into a thriving cardboard factory in the 19th century and is now a protected monument and museum. The route winds via the Duivelsborre to the Begijnenbos, offering a beautiful view over the valley. Along the way, you pass an alpaca farm, and via the sunken lanes of the Elsemheide, you return to the center of Alsemberg.
