Forests in Beersel

The Beersel forests were formerly part of the Sonian Forest. It is therefore not surprising that Beersel is a green municipality. Scattered throughout the municipality are the Dwersbos in Beersel centre, the Gasthuisbos in Alsemberg, and the Begijnenbos and Hanenbos in Dworp, among others. Located in the far south of the municipality are also the Krabbos and the Kesterbeekbos. These two forests are both extensions of the much larger Hallerbos. The Hallerbos is best known for its wild hyacinths, which create a beautiful purple-blue carpet of flowers during the spring.
