Oud Beersel is a historic lambic producer, founded in 1882. After more than a century of activity, the brewery closed at the end of 2002, threatening the disappearance of a valuable piece of local heritage.
For lambic enthusiast Gert Christiaens, that was unacceptable: the prospect that his favorite beer, the Oude Geuze Oud Beersel, would no longer exist, was the deciding factor. In In 2005, he relaunched Oud Beersel, respecting the original character and the artisanal lambic tradition, but with a fresh and innovative vision that put the brand back on the map.
Oud Beersel is known today for its combination of craftsmanship and innovation. In addition to the classic Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek, the house also develops modern lambic creations and continues to invest sustainably in quality and innovation.
